More Saab Turbos: Those forced-induction-loving Swedes over at Saab have a new engine for the 9-3. It's a turbocharged version of the recently introduced 2.8-liter DOHC V-6 that will power the base 2005 Cadillac CTS. Sans turbo, the engine puts out 210 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque in the CTS. With turbo, the Saab 9-3 version is expected to put out at least 280 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The engine will debut next summer in the 9-3 sedan and convertible, as well as the 9-3 Sporthatch wagon that debuts at the same time. Currently, the highest-horsepower engine in the 9-3 is a 210-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and with at least 70 more ponies, there will likely be 9-3 Viggen-style torque steer on the menu.
